Verizon Prepaid BlackBerry Plans to Become Available, Smartphones to Cost Between Subsidized And Full Retail Price

Verizon is not making the mistakes AT&T made with its iPhone centric marketing strategy and though the speculations of the Apple iPhone arriving at VZW shores are ripe, Verizon is thinking about other options such as offering prepaid BlackBerry plans as well.

Throwing BlackBerry in the mix is a smart VZW strategy where it is looking to expand the prepaid line-up and options. Now it is not sure which of the specific BlackBerry devices will be available on the data plan, but since most of the handsets bearing the BlackBerry moniker are utterly desirable, VZW might see this strategy reaping profits.

As per the grapevine, the pre-paid plan will add $35 extra to the voice package and the plans should become available within the next 90 days. Also, the prepaid bundles are expected to match the older ones and the phones would run somewhere between the subsidized price and the entire retail cost.

VZW is sure to sell more BlackBerrys’ in the future and with the iPhone probably coming, we have no doubts regarding the numero uno carrier status. [via: BGR]
