Google Releases a Stable Update for Chrome, Introduces Extensions

Google have just released an update for their Chrome browser – it’s a stable release, and among some of the improvements introduced with it are extensions and bookmark synchronization. Apart from that, the update adds some polish to the browser and improves its stability and security.

The blog post made on the official blog shines some light on a variety of security fixes which were also brought about with this update, and the update is in fact advertised as adding “over 1500 new features” to the browser, thanks to the user extensions available to the community.

The browser is getting more and more on par with Mozilla’s Firefox, as extensions were pretty much the main outstanding feature of Firefox, while Chrome is steadily pulling forward in terms of performance. Extensions themselves aren’t far behind, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see what happens when they’re released – will many consider switching to Chrome? It doesn’t seem so unlikely anymore, considering the improvements.
