While they haven’t been revealed officially, some of the features coming up in Apple’s iPhone OS 4.0 have been leaked onto the Internet. It looks like the OS is getting quite a good update there, with some nifty features being introduced – read on to find out exactly what.

First, the OS will support multitouch gestures, which also coincides with the rumors that the iTablet will use an OS very close to that of the iPhone. Multitasking will also be supported, with ways to run background applications being introduced.

The OS will also get an overhaul in its navigation, making it much more convenient and streamlined in its interface. There are no specific details on that yet, but one can easily guess what it’ll probably include – new notification styles, for example.

One of the news is that the update will only be released for the iPhone 3G and 3GS, however it will be a really significant one, according to the sources within Apple, bringing the devices much closer to a handheld computer.
