Are you someone who is sitting on scores of boxes of old photos? Then this is for you! You now have the option of scanning these photographs and converting them into digital masterpieces. The new technology comes courtesy of Hammacher Schlemmer. The device is a digital photo frame with built-in scanner. The scanner allows you to preserve and view photos in the easiest manner you have never come across ever.

The Hammacher Schlemmer photo frame/scanner has been built to convert old photos  of size specs 1 ½ x 2 to 4  x 6 inches into 300-dpi jpg images, with the press of a button. While you do that the scanning is done and the digital images are stored in the device’s 1 GB internal memory. Believe it or not, the memory has the capability to store up to 3,000 images. The device sports two different slots to hold the images. You can store them into a MS/SD/xD/MMC/CF memory card or a USB storage device. You will also be able to transfer them to a PC running Windows XP, Vista, 7, or Mac OS X.

Once the scan and store option is done, you will be able to view the images on a bright 8-inch TFT LCD panel at 800 x 600 resolution in thumbnails, at full-screen size, or in slideshows. You will also be able to add your favorite music on the soundtrack option as you play the slideshow.

Hammacher Schlemmer has also added capabilities like options to display a picture calendar, clock and even MPEG videos. Further, the device has been made to be PictBridge compatible too. Push buttons or the remote control that comes as part of the package makes the display easier and hassle free. Hammacher Schlemmer has already hit the marketplace with the device that comes with a $199.95 price tag.
