IPhone Facebook App Updated to 3.1, Finally Gets Push Support

The iPhone presents some difficulties for developers willing to write applications with push notifications and widgets, due to its lack of multitasking support. However, the device has full push support now, and the Facebook app has been updated accordingly to version 3.1 to offer push notifications and synchronization with your address book contacts.
When the iPhone OS was updated to 3.0, this brought along push notification support and it became a standard feature for most iPhone apps – however, the probably most popular one lacked this option for a while.
Updating your Facebook app should present you with a prompt to enable push notifications, with the default setting being “on”. However, even though push notifications are a cool thing to have, be careful if you’re a popular person on Facebook – getting hundreds of updates and messages can become troublesome if they’re all relayed to your iPhone. If you don’t think that’ll bother you though, let us know how the app works after the update.
