The Xacti VPC-SH1 by Sanyo should come out in February, and we’re already getting some of the juicy details about it. One of the camcoder’s selling points is its size and weight – it’s advertised as having the “smallest, lighteste and thinnest class body”, and it seems those claims aren’t far from the truth – it weighs just 7.2 ounces and is just 1.69 inches thick.

The camcoder also features an enlarged sensor area, giving you a 35mm wide-angle effect. For comparison, full HD uses 2 megapixels, while the Xacti makes use of a 3.5 megapixel area while shooting video.

H.264 has pretty much become a standard in these devices so there isn’t much point mentioning it. Sanyo have also applied for iFrame certification, so this should come as a pleasant surprise to some of you.

As we already said, look for the device in February – as for the price, $399.99 is how deep you’ll have to reach into your pocket. And even though it’ll most certainly be a great deal for that price, we’d advice you to wait for at least the first videos to roll out before buying it.
