The first game to be released in the upcoming StarCraft 2 trilogy, “Wings of Liberty”, will be centered around the Terran race and their part of the story – however, Blizzard have revealed a small surprise – the campaign will feature a small segment where the player is given control over units from one of the other races, the Protoss.

Apparently, the Protoss part will be included as a mini-campaign during the course of the Terran one, supposedly to add some variety to the gameplay and present the storyline from a different perspective for a brief period of time.

Those of you who would want to engage in the full-blown Protoss campaign will sadly have to wait until the last part of the trilogy – “Legacy of the Void” is released, as the second one will be centered around the Zerg race, and will be titled “Heart of the Swarm”.

StarCraft 2 is the sequel to the game which pretty much defined the competitive aspect of the real-time strategy genre – even though the first game is over ten years old now, it’s still enjoying a hugely active community.

The sequel will be released in three parts, with the first one set to come out during the first half of this year.
