Mophie Reveal an iPhone Credit Card Reader [CES 2010]

IPhone users who wish to use their credit cards for purchases made through the device in the most convenient way possible, will be excited to hear about Mophie’s new product, an iPhone credit card reader. The device connects to your iPhone and can then read information from credit cards – which is then passed to an iPhone app for processing.
Mophie’s previous products were mostly cases and batteries for the iPhone, such as the “juice pack”, an accessory which can double the device’s battery life. So far though, this seems to be the first of their products to come paired with its own iPhone app.
This isn’t the first device of its kind – Jack Dorsey, the man behind Twitter, revealed his own iPhone credit card reader, the Square, some time ago. The Square is set for launch soon, and it’s designed as a cube which connects to your iPhone, and, much like Mophie’s product, extracts the card’s details and parses them on the phone. The device has several other features as well, such as automatic receipt e-mailing, and allowing merchants to see an actual photo of the customer making the purchase.
