Nintendo’s Wii gaming console was once a rage and the world wanted it but with the development of the likes of the Xbox 360 and the Play Station 3, the sales of the seventh-generation console have dipped heavily.

Nintendo is seeking a revival of sorts and the best possible way to get those sales numbers rolling again is to offer the world a fresh new console. Now this is no confirmed news but the rumor mill is on the grind and the word is that Nintendo is developing a new gaming console in collaboration with Intel.

If at all, Intel is involved in the development of the probable Wii successor, we are bound to believe that Intel will push Nintendo into using the latest graphics processor Larrabee. Together as a unit, Intel and Nintendo will seek to develop an effective GPU/CPU combination.

Neither Intel nor Nintendo have given away anything regarding this development but Intel may eventually end up powering the new console for Nintendo christened Zii. We here at DM are hoping this speculation turns out to be true for it will then mean more gaming excitement in the future. [via: Slashgear]
