It’s been 30 eventful years and Ricoh is all set for a celebration. No tame celebration it would be, going by the manner in which the camera maker is planning it to be.  Ricoh will unveil a special edition of its GR Digital III camera to make the occasion so very special.

From what we have managed to hear, Ricoh has roped in fashion house Stussy to jointly develop and design the model. The camera maker will roll out just 500 units of the GR Digital III camera for its 30th anniversary celebration. This in effect could make it sell like hot cakes.  In case you are waiting to pick one, here is the launch date. The new special edition cameras would roll out of the Ricoh stables during February 2010. Japanese stores are expected to sell the cameras for a price of 99,750 Yen (approximately $1,100).

In case you want to know what the additions in the special edition version would be, we think we should tell you no special specs are being included. We hear specifications will be kept the same as the standard versions. The touch of the Stussy fashion brand could make it more luring though.

Talking of specs, the special edition version of the Ricoh GR Digital III camera would include a 10 megapixel sensor, its 28mm/F 1.9 Fast GR Lens, a 3-inch LCD and capabilities to record video at a resolution of 640×480. Sounds good, let’s wait for February to come.
