Modern Warfare 2 players on the Xbox 360 have been reporting a strange glitch in their games, which started happening recently. According to players, the glitch causes their ammo counters to disappear, giving them unlimited ammo instead. It’s obvious how this can have serious effects on the game’s balance.

The exploit appears to stem from some modders, who’ve managed to get access to the game’s data and modified it. The bigger problem is that the exploit is passed on to anyone who’s played with the modder, as it’s saved to your console’s cache. It shouldn’t cause any damage, so don’t worry about that.

There’s no permanent fix as of now – the only solution is to disconnect from Xbox Live and reboot your console. Infinity Ward have stated that they’re aware of the exploit and a fix is in the works – and that it will be eliminated “soon enough”. It’s not the kind of news you’d expect about such a serious exploit, but at least they’re working on it.
