Asus Eee PC 1201N in the news with graphics benchmarking update

It’s been quite a while since expectations over the upcoming Asus Eee PC 1201N have been doing the rounds. The latest on that front is that the new Asus device could step a bit ahead of HP’s Mini 311 when it comes to comparing graphics.

The Eee PC 1201N is being touted as 12.1-inch wonder and is expected to come with Intel’s dual-core Atom 330 processor. On the graphics arena it would have the NVIDIA Ion graphics. Comparing the Asus Eee PC 1201N with the HP Mini 311 would be like pitching two performers against each other, or so say those who managed to do it. Significant is the fact that the 1201N and the Mini 311 match well. The only solace for the 1201N is that ASUS is slightly ahead of the Mini 311 in 3D Mark 2006. It has been also found that the Asus device lags behind HP model in 3D Mark 2005 and 2003. The HP Mini 311, which comes loaded with Ion LE graphics, can’t just be written off.

Mind you, it isn’t yet time to pass a judgment on the upcoming Asus model. We are still in the dark about what kind of performance the Eee PC 1201N would bring in.
