Heard of the Optiplex?  Dell is gearing up to present to the world the smallest ever desktop. Christened the Optiplex 780, the Dell creation is just 9.4 x9.4 inches.

The Dell Optiplex 780 has been built to use to use primarily desktop components, say latest reports. If you are so very keen on picking one for your home or office, Dell is said to be planning to offer a base configuration of the Optiplex 780 for a cool price tag.

So what all do you get for that money? The smallest ever system is a machine that uses a 2.5-inch hard drive and processors of around 3.33 GHz Core 2 Duo. The system will come with  2.2GHz Celeron, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive running Windows 7 and Intel GMA 4500 video. Significantly, Dell will also be offering as many as three years of on-site help and service.

The OptiPlex 780 comes as a minitower, a desktop, a small form factor and an ultra small form factor. There is  a range of features for you to choose from, with Dell lining up hard drive, memory and connectivity options. The system has been enabled to support two displays. Wireless connectivity is another option.

If the Optiplex 780 is not enough for you, Dell has a different system named OptiPlex 380. This one offers the choice of three form factors, such as a minitower, desktop or small form factor. Intel Core 2 Quad processors, DDR3memory form the important specs, while it runs Windows 7. While the OptiPlex 380 would cost $329 for the desktop, $339 for the minitower and $349 for the small form factor, the price of 780 USFF starts at $629. What do you think ?
