NVIDIA’s low-power but capable ION platform has become the base of a lot of compact and highly multimedia-capable “nettops” and other such similar devices. ASRock, popular for their affordable motherboards, has come out with two new nettops, now available for pre-order from Amazon. The ASRock ION 330-HT and ION 330HT-BD are the two nettops, priced at $458.99 and $588.99 respectively. No shipping date has been announced for either systems.

More details below.

Both the nettops are powered by a dual-core Intel Atom 330 processor supported by an nVidia ION GPU and 2 GB of DDR3 memory. They come with 320 GB of storage in the default configuration but according to the ASRock product page, there is also option for a second 2.5-inch harddrive that can be set up as a RAID 0 or 1 array. Network connectivity is available in the form of WiFi b/g/n.

The nettops are both capable of 1080p HD output and come with Media Center Edition compatible remote controls. The higher-end version , the ION 330-HT-BD also packs a Blu-ray drive for completing the HD entertainment experience. The video output is driven through either VGA or HDMI ports. For external storage and accessories there are six USB 2.0 ports available along with a combo eSATA/USB port for speed storage.

Amazon’s pre-order page lists both the items as “barebones”, though it is not known what is there for the user to add to it. There is no mention about the operating system or any other bundled software.
