Blackberry Pearl 2 aka Stratus/Striker (9100) Leaks on Video

December 3, 2009, By Radimir Bobev

The Blackberry Pearl 2 isn’t supposed to come out for at least another few months, but a lot of information about it has already made its way on the Internet. One alleged copy of the phone was recently put up for sale on eBay, while earlier some pictures of the device were leaked on the Internet. Now, an actual video showing the phone in action has been put up on YouTube.

Check it out after the break!

The phone seems to be rather small, though still larger than the previous Pearl phones, according to the video’s author. It has a new 3.2 megapixel camera with a flash, and Wi-Fi, along with 3G support. The trackball is gone and is now replaced by a trackpad, like the one used in the Curve 8530 and Bold 9700. On the side of the device, there are a few new multimedia buttons.

The absence of a QWERTY keyboard can put off many people, but the phone should be perfect for those who need a “lighter” version of the standard Blackberry phones, without the extra business-oriented features like the QWERTY keyboard. Expected release date is around April.
