Creative ZEN X-Fi2 Gets a Firmware Update

November 30, 2009, By Radimir Bobev

The Creative ZEN X-Fi2 has just been updated with a new firmware, adding a variety of things to the player’s functionality. Owners of the X-Fi2 will be delighted to hear that the player now finally supports colored icons, as well as using the accelerometer (however, this functionality is just for photos right now).

Other changes include a new game – Sudoku, and the ability to press and hold the power button to turn off the player, as opposed to the current way of doing it. Users have frequently reported issues with the unit’s responsiveness before, and these seem to have been fixed, which is a great thing considering the problems that used to arise from them.

The Sudoku is probably a hint at more games being added to the player in the future, too, which will surely go a long way in utilizing this little beauty’s potential – and it certainly has a lot of potential for a multimedia player, with its touchscreen interface and intuitive user interface. Expect more developments in the firmware in the future.
