The Sony VGN-NW235F/W laptop features a 15.5 inch widescreen LCD display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and is powered by an Intel Pentium T4300 processor with 800MHz Front Side Bus speed and supported by 4GB DDR2 RAM expandable to 8GB. Internal storage is in the form of a 320GB 5400 rpm SATA hard disk while external storage is possible through the multi-format optical drive. Graphics is pumped out by the Intel GMA 4500MHD GPU and also present is a built-in MOTION EYE webcam and microphone for video chatting. You can go online using the ethernet port or using WiFi-n connectivity. External peripherals are supported either through one of the 3 USB 2.0 ports or an IEEE 1394 Firewire port.

This is not a $999 regularly priced laptop. You can buy a better sony laptop than this right now at best buy for $650. This laptop is a good deal and a decent laptop but is by no means $600 off. This laptop only has a pentium processor. You can get almost the exact same one with a duao for $650 right now.
