Google Chrome – A Look At The Future Of Operating Systems?

Today, Google unveiled their operating system, Chrome, which has been only talked about until now. The system takes a revolutionary approach to interacting with the user, embedding a browser as the main point of action. The operating system is open-source, and in fact, it’s just a Linux distribution with a custom window system. This makes it extremely lightweight and easy to work with.

However, Google went to say that this does not mark a launch of Chrome – the system’s coming on the market is apparently still further down the road, and it will take a while to even get a public beta out – Google predicts that it should happen in roughly a year. A curious fact about Chrome’s capabilities, is that it’s compatible with both x86 and ARM architecture, making it able to run on home computers as well as portable ones. Will this mark a turning point in the development of operating systems? It’s early to tell, but it sure looks interesting.
