Asus officially announces EeePC 1201N running on nVidia Ion

After some leaks via the Eeeuser.com forum back in August, Asus has now officially announced their latest addition to the EeePC series of netbooks, the Asus EeePC 1201N. Apparently some bloggers have also been able to get their paws on it and have been able to post some hands on impressions soon after Asus confirmed the existence of the new netbook.
The Asus EeePC 1201N brings the nVidia ION platform to the series for the first time. AS the ‘12′ i nthe name suggests, the netbook has a 12.1 inch, 1366×768 LED backlit display ( which unfortunately is also glossy and will be a dust and fingerprint magnet). The number crunching will be done by a dual core Intel Atom 330 processor running at 1.6 GHz, along with 2 or 3Gb of DDR memory and 250 GB or 320GB of storage . The power supply will be from a six-cell battery and the netbook will come pre-installed with Windows 7 Premium.
And when you get it all at $499, it becomes a pretty awesome deal. Since none of the hands-on impressions seem to be really complete, it seems they are under an NDA from Asus. We will know more once Asus decides to release more info on the netbook which should be hitting retail stores sometime in mid-December.
