BlackBerry Bold 9700s arrive at T-Mobile stores – but not for sale yet

November 13, 2009, By Thomas Antony

There are rumours going around that T-mobile’s retail outlets have started receiving their shipments of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphones. While I am pretty sure they won’t sell them early to any berry fans no matter how much you beg or plead. But hey, its worth a try right? In case you haven’t heard of it, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is RIM’s new revision of their earlier BlackBerry Bold 9000. It has potential to be the BlackBerry of your dreams with a whole arsenal of features. Almost every single GSM carrier on the planet is bound to pick it up sooner or later.

While it will be available on-contract with AT&T, Rogers and T-Mobile, the Blackberry Bold 9700 has also been spotted sim-free at MobileFun, an online retailer in the UK, at a launch price of £379.75 . If you don’t mind getting a contract, you can get it from T-mobile for $199.99 after a $100 MIR on 2-year contracts from T-mobile once it comes out on Monday.

The new BlackBerry Bold comes with a 2.44 inch HVGA+ display and full QWERTY keyboard and solves many of the problems reported by the users of the original Bold. It is poacked into a smaller, stylish streamlined form and utilizes Blackberry’s latest operating system, the BlackBerry OS 5.0 . It supports full syncing with Mac and is more responsive and intuitive to operate.

The 3.2 megapixel camera is much improved than that on its predecessor and has autofocus along with 1Gb of internal memory to store the pics. And if you want more,. you can expand it with a microSDHC card. The old trackball has been replaced by a touch-sensitive trackpad that makes the phone much more responsive. Other goodies include A-GPS, Wi-Fi b/g, and Bluetooth.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 packs some damn good features, but it will need to some good fan-following and stay firm against the horde of new sexy phones invading the market such as the HTC Hero and  Droid Eris.
