Dell Inspiron Zino HD – a colorful and mighty HTPC box

Dell’s latest HD-capable HTPC boxes for this holiday season come in a 7.75”x7.75”x3.5” form-factor and in a multitude of cool colours. The Dell Inspiron Zino HD is versatile enough to handle basic computing chores to high-def video output. Its personalizable colours make it a pleasure on the eyes and all in all a pretty sight in your room.

The mini PC starts at just $229 and while the base configuration is pretty basic, you can upgrade it with as much as 8GB of RAM and more. It packs enough punch to put out High definition video through the on-board HDMI port. It is available now from . You can check out more details about this cool new “box-pc” below the cut.

The this tiny household PC can fit in tight spaces and can easily jack into your home network through the Gigabit LAN or Wi-Fi. At the core, is an AMD Athlon Neo X2 6850e dual core CPU and graphics powered by an ATi Radeon HD4330 GPU with 512MB video RAM. Its storage is expandable upto 1Tb and also comes with a built-in card reader, two eSATA ports and four USB ports for external connectivity. The default optical drive is a DVD/CD-RW combo, which can be upgraded to a Blu-Ray Disc combo.  An optional TV tuner will add in to the media center experience and a wireless keyboard and mouse will make it easy to keep it tucked away in a nice cosy corner.

That said, all these addons will really “add on” to the price and make it rather pricey. It will come preloaded with a Windows operating system of your choice, from Windows Vista Home Basic to Windows 7 Professional.

All said and done, this is one great box of goodies that packs quote a lot of stuff and while at also manages to look damn good!
