Those on the old continent drooling over the new Motorola DROID that have just been officially released in shops across the United States should know that a trip to Germany would probably get them the GSM Version, as O2 has listed the new Motorola MILESTONE on their website for €550.

Coming right after this week’s announcement that the Motorola MILESTONE (the European Droid) will be released in Germany starting November 9th, the sliding handset comes bundled with an 8GB microSD card (instead of 16GB as its US brother) that will pack the Western Europe roadmap to be used with Motorola’s own MOTONAV turn-by-turn directions app.

On top of that, the MILESTONE will run Android 2.0 (Eclair), has a QWERTZ keyboard, the same 3.7-inch 480 x 854 touchscreen display (with added pinch-zoom multitouch) and 5-megapixel camera with image stabilization, dual-LED flash and automatic focus, A-GPS, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth connectivity. It also features a powerful 1400 mAh Li Ion battery that promises to deliver up to 390 minutes of talk time.

Taking advantage of Google’s Mobile OS, the new Motorola MILESTONE brings Push Gmail, Push Exchange, IMAP and POP3 email support, instant messaging on Gtalk, standard voice mail and has a location enabled, multi window HTML5 webkit browser.

There’s no word when O2 Germany will start shipping the MILESTONE, what we know for now is that it costs €550 so better hide some of your paycheck from your wife if you want one.
