Samsung Jack gets a Windows Mobile 6.5 OS upgrade

Samsung has made available a Windows Mobile 6.5 OS upgrade for its budget smartphone Jack. With the new upgrade now being offered, the Samsung Jack will get spruced up with AT&T Wi-Fi access. Users will be able to lay their hands on the update via the Samsung support site, free of charge.
AT&T has said that Samsung Jack owners can get connected via 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots across the United States. Significantly enough, the new upgrade will bring to Jack the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, whereby users can have direct access to browsing, buying, and downloading Windows Mobile apps.
The additional features include an upgraded Internet Explorer Mobile with basic Flash support. Besides this, the new upgrade will bolster the Jack with a Vlingo for Windows Phone. This feature is to allow users to send messages, call friends, search the Web by uttering oral commands into the Jack.
The Jack had arrived on the AT&T network earlier this year with a Windows Mobile 6.1 version. What we find interesting about the new upgrade is that it would bring back the charm about Jack yet again. The new upgrade is sure to give the Samsung Jack some added bit of attention in an overcrowded market.
Meanwhile, it is being expected that Samsung’s Epix, also on AT&T, will be another smartphone that will soon get a Windows Mobile 6.5 OS upgrade.
