The GSM version of the Motorola Droid will launch in Germany on O2 on November 9, 2009. Rechristened Motorola Milestone, the Droid will be available in German stores for € 404, or $595.

The GSM version of the first Android 2.0 smartphone would come with all specifications that the Droid boasts of. Complete with a 3.7-inch touchscreen, full Qwerty keyboard and a 5-megapixel camera, the Motorola Milestone would however come devoid of a radio that the Droid is said to offer. Many wouldn’t mind, we guess

In case, you would want to play music or get glued on to a movie, you can paired the Milestone with a docking station which turns it into a picture frame, alarm clock and media player. The presence of an improved Google Maps experience would come as a consolation to those who miss certain features.

O2 has said that the Motorola Milestone is all set to arrive in Germany, but we still are trying to find out if the handset would be available in the rest of Europe, the UK specifically any time soon. O2 has been quoted as saying that it has no current plans to sell in the UK. But we hope a rethink might come about in this regard soon.
