It seems to be raining e-readers. Joining the onslaught is Sony, by hitting stores with its new Sony Reader Pocket Edition (PRS-300). You can pick one now for a price of $199.
Sony had provided details of the PRS-300 back in early August, if you would remember. The device has finally arrived and is in for major competition with many a manufacturer already lining up their products in the e-reader market place. The new device comes with a 5-inch E-Ink display and boasts of 512MB of internal storage and USB 2.0.
Sony has put on market racks the PRS-300 in various hues such as dark blue, pink and silver. By the looks of it PRS-300 gives us the impression of being an elegant model. Technical specifications reveal that it is a lightweight device and can carry up to 350 of your favorite books at a time.
What we think is attractive is the capability of the PRS-300 e-reader to provide paper-like display for easy, natural reading. Sony has added that it would have access to a wide number of online bookstores and would come with intuitive eBook Library software for PC and Mac.
In a scene where competition is on the climb, Sony expects its new PRS-300 to do wonders. The design indeed has the elegance to lure buyers. Let’s wait and see as to which way the e-reader market tilts.

From my past ebook reader the sony PRS-300 makes me glad I waited. The unit is a joy to use and I have found tons of great free books on the Internet so now I can easily read when I have a spare moment so far the battery life is amazing. Hours of use and it has not gone down at all. The high contrast screen makes reading a pure joy in all light condition except in direct sun light.
