Android 2.0 which is unarguably the best version of the Google Mobile OS just went public yesterday and it already seems to be getting ‘more’ popular. After the Motorola baby Droid, HTC Hero will become the second smartphone to run Android 2.0 as confirmed through an official HTC Tweet.

The exact date for the Eclair update hasn’t been mentioned but this update implies that HTC will now let go the 1.6 update which was otherwise due for the Hero.
An Eclair update is probably on the cards for other HTC devices as well but an official announcement regarding the same hasn’t been made.
Hero was piped as the most advanced Android device even without the Eclair update, thanks to options like the Outlook calendar and contact synchronization and with Android 2.0 on-board, things will only get better.
Hero packs in a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 5MP camera and it is blessed with multi-touch capabilities. HTC Hero is also the first Android device for Sprint and now it will be the first one to get an Android 2.0 update.
It takes a little bit of time to update the Sense to the Android 2.0 so the Sprint subscribers will have to curb their excitement a wee bit. [via: BGR]

When I would have to chose between the Motorola Droid and the HTC Hero I would definitely go for the HTC! Even though the reviews for the Hero aren’t that great, it seems a little but slow which is because of the slow processor (having added the 1Ghz snapdragon would have added a lot to it’s usability)
