Disney fans will soon get to access content and interactive features from anywhere, thanks to a move by Walt Disney Co to unveil free iPhone and iPod Touch applications.

The move comes close on the heels of the realization that Disney has a sizable audience of iPhone and iPod Touch users for its content on its existing mobile application on Disney.com, a part of the Disney Interactive Media Group. As per statistics, Disney.com boasts of around 31 million unique visitors every month. The Disney.com mobile site has carved a name for itself by being the numero uno entertainment mobile site.

With the unveiling of free iPhone and iPod Touch applications, Disney.com will aid the Disney Interactive Media Group portal to organize all branded content within one destination on each device. It will also allow users to interact with Disney characters through customizable photo frames and audio greetings. Among the other features would be provisions to listen to Radio Disney live, watch music videos and buy Disney music on Apple’s iTunes Store.

When the move sees itself on stream, it would allow popular Apple devices to unlock exclusive content for fans. Disney had earlier offered paid applications from Apple’s App Store, and they include the likes of Toy Story Mania!, Disney Fairies Fly, The Nightmare Before Christmas and many others. If you are worried about what kids will get to see, Disney has ensured that the incorporation of the free iPhone and iPod Touch applications would come with adequate safety controls.
