Come November 15, 2009, and Sprint will make the holiday season memorable with the launch of the Palm Pixi in the American smartphone mart. Believe it or not, the device will retail for just $99.99.

The smartphone, which was announced on Monday, will run the Palm webOS mobile platform, Sprint said in press statement. Complete with a multi-touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard, the new smartphone is sure to be lapped up by enthusiasts for its price and also the capabilities it offers with regard to social networking and messaging.

The ease at which these functions run has been made possible with the Palm Pixie allowing for easy movement between messaging and email or web browsing while listening to music. It allows for dragging and rearranging items with natural gestures of the finger, Sprint has said. We like the gesture-based UI and 8GB of onboard storage the Pixi offers. To be available on the Sprint 3G network in the US, the smartphone would offer connectivity features of the likes of EVDO Rev.A and Bluetooth. However, the smartphone seems to have given WiFi the miss.

All of 11 x 55 x 10.85 mm, the Palm Pixi would be compatible with the $79.99 Touchstone inductive charger. The press statement added that it will, however, need a new battery-cover. The price tag of $99.99 comes along with a two-year service agreement. The low tag will be offered after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate.

So starting November 15, head for the Sprint stores, Best Buy, RadioShack or a Wal-Mart store near you to pick a Pixi. It will also be available at or you can place an order at 1-800-SPRINT1.
