Toyota is taking the Tokyo Motor Show by a storm with cleaner and greener models, but the highlight of this year’s show is the recently unveiled Lexus LFA supercar — a two-seater coupe that gets straight to your heart.

Meant as the flagship model for the ‘F’ range of premium sports cars, the Lexus LF-A will be a limited edition with only 500 units ever produced and with production starting next year.

First introduced four years ago in Detroit, the Lexus LFA hides a high-output 4.8-liter 72-degree V10 engine under the hood. Mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, the massive powerplant, which sports 560 hp and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, helps it go naught to 62mph in 3.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 202 mph — which is ravishing for a commuter made 100kg lighter (than an aluminum car body) courtesy of the new CFRB (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) body.

With 20-inch BBS wheels wrapped in Bridgestone tires, titanium valves, connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, dry sump lubrication and a titanium exhaust manifold, the new Lexus LF-A certainly delivers an amazing driving experience and gets the eye while doing it.

Customer selection will begin in the second quarter of 2010 and each of those 500 customers from across the globe will have to sacrifice a minimum of US$375,000.
