The Frankfurt Book Fair witnessed the unveiling of Ectaco’s second eBook reader. Christened jetBook Lite, the new eBook reader will soon hit stores in the United States and will sell for a price of just under $150.
What we like about the jetBook Lite is that it exactly knows what we want. Built to support a range of language options, be it English, German, Spanish, Russian, or Polish, the jetBook Lite is most likely to arrive at Barnes & Noble.
Toshiba has made the 5-inch transflective monochrome display for the eBook reader. That also means electronic ink is out. You might have seen such displays earlier on pocket dictionaries. Weighing just 7.5 ounces, the jetBook Lite, however, has only 100MB of storage. So, if you are someone who would not be happy about that, the company has provided an SD card slot which can help you expand storage.
Ectaco has taken a diversion from its earlier love for Lithium–Ion Polymer batteries this time around, and has gone for AA size batteries to power the jetBook Lite. Significant is the fact that unlike the Li-Ion battery which stood strong for 20 hours, the four regular AA batteries would offer 23 hours of hassle free reading. For just under $150, what more do we ask for?
