Asus Android smartphone likely to debut by end of 2009
Asustek Computer is likely to unveil its Android smartphone by the end of this year. The new revelation comes after a year of wait following the shelving of its Google Eee PC earlier in 2009.

The past so many months had been a quiet period for Asus as far as Android plans were concerned. The latest talk of a possible launch of the Android smartphone has come after Asustek Computer chairman Jonney Shih and company president and CEO Jerry Shen discussed this in Taiwan. Shih has also been quoted as saying that the company’s Android smartphone will debut this year.
What we look forward to is the unveiling of smartphone. Whether it would really come is nobody’s guess, but we can still hope for it as a possibility has been spelt out by the Asus chairman himself. There isn’t any doubt that the Taiwanese technology company is going in for a ramp up of its Android smartphone plans.
We are trying to know if Asus would attach a down-to-earth price tag for the new smartphone it plans to bring in. If you would remember, Chairman Shih had made us smile when he had promised a low cost phone last January. We just hope the new Android smartphone would be low cost and that it doesn’t get delayed as has been with the case with the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone.
So get set for the fourth quarter of 2009, Asus might just bring in the Android smartphone we are talking about.
