Samsung has brought its LD220G and LD190N laptop companion monitors to the US market place. The US unveiling comes months after Samsung had given a taste of the two new laptop companion monitors to Korean customers.

While the 22-inch 220G boasts of a resolution of 1920 x 1080, Samsung has provided the 19-inch 190D with a resolution of 1360 x 768. On the pricing front, the Korean major has attached a $249.99 tag for the LD220G, while the LD190N will sell for $149.99.

Not much different from other desktop displays, the most significant exception is that they aim at only customers who use notebooks. Both the monitors come with a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 20000:1. The screens share the same 5ms response time.

A more serious look at the two new monitors analysis would tell you that they have incorporated adjustable tilt angles about 10-30 degrees. Power usage records 22 watts. The also come with a provision for USB 2.0 graphic connectivity. The 220G also has a built-in USB hub to help connect external devices. While the LD190N can be connected to a PC using a normal VGA cable, the 220G has been unveiled as a USB connecting display.

Good to look at, Samsung’s LD220G and LD190N laptop companion monitors have a design that would make you wonder if they are actually photo frames.
