Suzuki has said that the Swift Plug-in Hybrid would come across as short-traveler vehicle that has been built to travel around 20 km every day.  Powered by a 660cc engine, the car will also boast of a generator to charge the lithium-ion battery. The car maker is also believed to have incorporated a domestic plug-in socket for recharging to check drop in capacity level.

Meanwhile, the fuel cell vehicle SX4 FCV will be a five-door hatchback, and is currently under tests in Japan. The Tokyo show will be the car’s second outing after having first shown at the 2008 Paris auto show. Powered by highly efficient fuel cells by GM and a high pressure tank from Suzuki, the SX4 FCV is expected to lure enthusiasts at the show for features such as added performance and energy recovery boosts during braking.

More details of the two cars are yet to come in. Show organizers expect a heavy Japanese presence at the show which will be on from 21 October 2009 to 4 November 2009. The non-Japanese car makers would have only two enclosures – that of Alpina and Lotus.
