T-Mobile’s 3G-capable BlackBerry Bold 2 To Ship On Nov 21

October 9, 2009, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The BlackBerry Bold 2, an upgrade of the BlackBerry Bold which incorporates an elegant touch pad, is set to ship on November 21, 2009. The device will also be known by the names Onyx and 9700.

The shipments are expected to begin at least three weeks after T-Mobile lifts the wraps off the new smart phone. Details on pricing are still being awaited. The 9700 will come loaded with a 3.2-megapixel camera and a 480×360 screen, both being the most significant hardware upgrades. It would also be T-Mobile’s special offering going by the fact that it would be the smart phone maker’s first 3G-capable BlackBerry.

Even as the BlackBerry Bold 2 gets set to hit the racks, competition is hotting up at AT&T, we are told. The debut will see AT&T also lining up its model. However, it isn’t yet known when the AT&T models starts to ship. The arrival of the 3G-capable BlackBerry is also seen as putting an end to AT&T’s exclusivity run for the Bold series in the US.

All we look forward to now is the retail launch. Until then, BlackBerry Bold owners can keep themselves ready to phase out the track ball and stay in tune for the elegant track pad the BlackBerry Bold 2 will bring with it.
