Introduced at CES in January, the new D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 all-in-one router has finally made it to the bookshelves. Shipping with a built-in draft N Wi-Fi module which allows communication with network attached storage devices, the new DIR-685 router additionally comes with D-Link’s SharePort feature that allows the networked computers to share printers or other needed USB devices.
Another interesting feature for D-Link’s DIR-685 router is the multi-purpose 3.2-inch LCD that shows the device’s status with all sorts of graphs and gauges. On top of that, the screen can also act as a digital frame by displaying images or streaming videos, and can even be programmed to display an updated weather forecasts and other Internet sourced data.
Specs wise, DIR-685 supports both UPnP server functions and BitTorrent downloads, comes with a built-in FTP server and also allows for an optional 1TB, 2.5-inch SATA drive on the side.
Available with two USB ports, two gigabit Ethernet ports and a Wi-Fi Scheduler (to shut down on demand), the new D-Link DIR-685 should be sold at $300.
