AT&T iPhone MMS Feature

The much craved iPhone MMS feature on AT&T is expected to be rolled out, today, September 25. Unnamed sources have announced that new MMS carrier settings for both the iPhone 3G and the 3GS are going to be available “late morning” Pacific Time, allowing users to download them free from iTunes.

On their Facebook page, AT&T have announced on Wednesday that “We know you’ve been eager for this service so we wanted to offer a quick update on the launch plans for MMS on Friday, Sept. 25. Late morning, Pacific Time, on Friday, the new carrier settings update enabling MMS should be live and ready …to download through iTunes. We’ll provide the steps and all of the details you need right here at that time.

When announced in June, the new iPhone 3.0 software has done great in getting users annoyed by the fact that there’s no MMS feature, motivating that AT&T’s network was not prepared. But now that the iPhone brings MMS,”record volumes” of picture messages are expected and although it sounds great for you and me (maybe), it may not be the best thing for the US carrier, as their network might crash.

Meanwhile, AT&T sure knows how to make people wait, don’t they?
