Orange Introduces World’s First HD Voice over 3G
High Definition Voice sounds an alien term for we are more accustomed to HD Video or HD Displays. But this term does exist and it has a lot of relevance in the world of cellphones. Orange has indeed thrown light on its importance by launching the World’s first HD voice over 3G. As per details, Orange chose Moldova to be the birthplace for the first HD voice call.

Orange calls it the HD voice standard and this technology renders better audio codec in voice transmission. The requisite condition for such quality voice transmission is a 3G or an HSDPA network as only these networks support high quality encoding courtesy of their superior bandwidth.
The first Orange phone to surface with high-definition audio is a custom made version of the Nokia 6720 classic and this special variant supports the AMR-WB codec.
Since Moldova is the only region where Orange furnishes HD voice quality, the Nokia 6720 classic HD is available only in Moldova’s Orange shops for an estimated price of 260 euro. [via: Gsmarena]
