Aion Open Beta, Reports of Constant Lag

aion-open-beta

Isn’t it frustrating when the game when you want to play is not delivering up to your expectations? Yesterday we started the countdown for the Aion open beta, and although it launched on time, reports came in concerning constant lag.

Designed with vaunted stability and a mostly lag-free environment, Aion has released (the client weights in at a hefty 8 GB) the open beta with a bunch of anti-cheat measures that include the Gameguard software and which causes players to exit the game prematurely due to an error it throws thinking it’s being modified.

Another reason why users are experience laggy sessions is because high population servers are unable to handle simultaneous connections with a bunch of folks all logging in at the same time, and crash.

Since that’s (most of the time) the rocky road towards any MMO launch, what we can do right now is to bear with NCSoft until they fine tune the Open Beta (that’s actually a Beta – no matter how much we’d like it to go live right now) version.

We’re certain things will straighten up.
