Advent Altro 13.3-inch CULV Ultraportable, The MacBook Air Killer?

If you thought the MacBook Air was the only real thin notebook worthy of consideration, think again, for Dixons UK is offering a contender this holiday season. The 13-3 inch CULV ultraportable notebook bears an Advent Altro moniker and is being offered at a far more affordable price.

We are aware that it is not easy to challenge the might of MacBook Air but the Advent Altro option has a number of useful integrations and hence the question can effectively be raised.

The notebook is 21mm thick and weighs 1.6kg and manages to pack in a 3GB RAM with an Intel Celeron Processor. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is also there alongwith a built-in webcam, HDMI, audio out and a multifunction connector.

The 120GB hard drive is shock proof (it ought to be in such a thin casing) which can be useful with a second version-Elite-that comes with an Intel Core 2 Solo processor. The Elite is finished in premium flush glass but is slightly expensive.

What is great is that though both run on Windows Vista but there are free upgrades available in future for Windows Seven. The Base model will cost £600 and the Elite will be offered for £800. [via: Slashgear]
