Walmart Deal: Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 for $348

Those netbooks can surely lure you with low pricing and performance promises but in times like these, you surely need to be rational. Hence, here is what you might want to know-Walmart is ready with a revised pricing for the Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 which will be offered for $348-in stores and online-from this Sunday onwards i.e. August 16.

The price reduction no way means that the Toshiba 17-inch Display variant has been a sad performer, and the only criticism is that it lacks a webcam and an HDMI port-but then they are reducing the price, aren’t they?

Let us now focus on what it possesses…The L355-S7915 houses a 2.2GHz Celeron 900 processor with 1,440 x 900 display, 3GB of RAM and a 250GB (5,400rpm) hard-drive. An Intel GMA 4500M graphics card is integrated to work magic with that screen.

Other options include a DVD burner, WiFi b/g, an ExpressCard 34/54 slot and three USB 2.0 ports. Windows Vista Home Basic from Microsoft comes as a pre-loaded Operating System. [via: Slashgear]

No need to wait until 8/16, Walmart in my town is already selling this laptop at $348. I just bought two. But they told me that they only had 40 and when they were gone, they were gone.
What it is missing (webcam and hdmi port) doesn’t sound like a negative for my purposes. And what it has (250GB HDD, 3GB SDRAM, 17′ screen, etc.) makes this a GREAT deal.

okay..I like taking pictures and this “walmart” computer doesnt have a memory card reader…it does have something called “express card” which I have never heard of. I wish someone would tell me of a way I can use my photo cards out of my camera on my computer.

The one problem I have with this offer is that it doesn’t have a dual core processor, so it’ll probably slow to a crawl when the anti-virus kicks in. I’d rather have a dual core for $398 than this machine at $348.
But that’s really a matter of taste. This is a great machine for the price. It’s better than the Toshiba I have, just not quite better enough.

ExpressCard is the fastest way to add functionality to your computer currently. USB, FireWire, Ethernet, HDTV Tuners, PCIe, HDMI – its the modern equivalent of the old PCMCIA/PCCARD expansion slots. http://www.frys.com, tigerdirect.com, mwave.com.

Suzanne Parker – you want an ExpressCard Multi-Card Reader/Adapter. here is a link to just one of many available –

It’s a multi card expresscard adapter

Oh and if you know what you’re doing or got a set of small screwdrivers and little brains like I do – eBay had the webcam, media buttons and card reader for the front. Thanks Toshiba, for making it just a few punch-out tabs! And as for the Socket P celeron 900? I’m throwing in a Core 2 Duo (bios/fan prob can’t take a quad) – just make sure its got the 800 MHz FSB and is Socket P

I recently purchased this at WalMart. Where is the
usual instruction booklet? On line? Also since I was
using a dial up connection and the location of this on mine is on the back and a tab over it? Is there a connection there? If not then what is my alternative,
I am new to this “advanced” after my 9 year Toshiba.
Anyone with any help on this?

Got something to say?
