Facebook Lite Starts Testing, Proves So Much Faster
After getting their hands on FriendFeed for $50 million and rolling out real time search, the folks at Facebook has just announced that they’ll start to beta testFacebook Lite. But what exactly is Facebook Lite and why the whole fuss about it?

Apparently thousands of Facebook users have been chosen to test out Facebook Lite — a service that not only looks like some sort of Twitter but also acts like one. But the company said that it’s nothing like that. The application was designed to suite those living in areas where broadband is either too expensive or not present. And India was one of the places the beta testing started out, which makes perfect sense.
Russia and China are next!
Facebook experienced slow loading times lately, hence why Facebook Lite is going offer only the basics by taking care for those who don’t have a fast connection. They strip the main site and allow users to quickly write on friend’s walls, send messages and build their social network. It has an extremely clean look and feel to it — reminding us of the old Facebook days.
Azhar Chougle is one of the guys in India to spend some time with Facebook lite for the last few days. Chougle notes, “And let me tell you it’s so much damn faster than the normal Facebook.” He also got some screenshots and you can get to see them below.
