Sprint Samsung Reclaim, The Super-Eco Mobile Phone

August 6, 2009, By Atul Roach

Finally a tinge of green for the world of cellphones… The closest that this world ever got to greenery was with phones juiced with solar energy and that is just about it…Therefore, the Samsung Reclaim which has chosen Sprint as its carrier is a definite trendsetter for it has been made out of corn-in a way.

This super-eco phone has been made from 80 per cent recycled materials and even then manages to be a stout offering choosing conventional integrations to match the regular entities.

The Reclaim is a slider with a QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth. It can supposedly station a 32GB microSD card and even comes with the Sprint Navigation on-board.

The constituent materials include bio-plastic made from corn, there is no PVC used and a very minimal amount of BFR is a part of the composition. A good reason why you see the packing above is that it too endorses the eco-factor-constructed from 70 percent recycled materials and printed with soy-based ink.

The Reclaim will be available in ‘Earth Green’ and ‘Ocean Blue’ from the 16th of August for $50 on a two-year contract. [via: Engadgetmobile]

I’d hate to see what happens to this thing if it gets too hot or humid… I’m thinking a miniature compost pile where the phone used to be.

Hopefully this will raise Sprint’s share price anytime soon, because I am regretting that I put too much into Sprint already.
