Business Continuity is an Essential Aspect for a Modern Business House

Modern day business structures need a lot of planning and in the format, what sits atop is the business continuity planning. Of course it is not easy to predict what can hinder the continuity or flow of a business but it is important to be prepared all the time. Take for instance the recent outbreak of Swine Flu.

Now such an outbreak can severely dent a business firm big or small and here is where business continuity planning comes in to fray as to how one can tackle a common problem of absenteeism. Such planning is a part of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and it is indeed the the cornerstone of business continuity programme.

What is advisable is to run a BIA before developing your business continuity plans. it is not an ordinary exercise and it needs to be revisited from time to time ensuring that plans and strategies continue to be applicable. Therefore a periodic review is a good solution and it does not necessarily mean revisiting the whole strategy all over again, it is a just a periodic check.

You need to assess what has changed, the way a business is organized, movements of the key staff and locations. Also, any recommendations which were ignored need to be re-checked in case they still have apparent relevance. [via IT Portal]
