Android-based Creative Zii Egg Handheld Announced, Adds the Zii Plaszma Platform

Creative Zii Egg Handheld

Creative’s Zii Egg has managed to take us by surprise with its multitouch-wielding, HD video-playing and dual-camera capabilities that makes you think, it could soon take on the iPod Touch. Running on Google’s Android OS, the Zii Egg features an awesome hardware and software platform — Zii Plaszma “the Cornerstone of StemCell Computing” which supports both Android and Android SDK.

An energy efficient handheld StemCell Computer based on the powerful ZiiLABS ZMS-05 media-rich applications processor, the new Creative Zii Egg adds a 3.5-inch Capacitive 10-Point Multi-Gesture display, outputs HD video at 720p and 10080p, has OpenGL ES support, HD and VGA Dual cameras, 32 GB of internal memory and SDHC card slot. It also comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a dedicated hardware GPS receiver, Text-to-Speech features and Creative’s X-Fi audio processing.

Available for some $400, what makes it a confusing new addition to the market, is the fact that we may never actually see the Zii Egg released to consumers under the Creative branding — since the company plans to offer it to other manufacturers as an OEM product.
