Go to Notebookreview.com HP discussion area and search for my name "seeratlas" and you will find an indepth examination of this notebook. Bottom line, it can easily be made to outperform Intel HD4500 based notebooks selling for nearly $1000.00. For people who play WOW, this is a steal.

The machine really comes into its own with the Win7 RC or RTM installed. You *can* downgrade to XP if you wish, but Win7 offers a better overall experience, better memory management, and nearly equal speed in games.

For $300.00 US. this computer is a heck of a deal.
Be wary of listening to people to who have not seen one, used one, or analyzed one; or, do not have the knowledge necessary to offer an intelligent appraisal of the machine's capabilities. I do, and I can tell you that I set up 3 of these for family/friends, and after seeing what they can do, went down and purchased one myself.

I bought my Compaq Presario CQ60-419WM from Wal-Mart three nights ago. I turned in on for 15 minutes when it said battery low switch to power supply or something like that. I had it plugged into a wall which also had a lamp in it because the lamp was on. The computer still shut itself down due to low battery power so I asked my daughter about it she suggested removing the battery once the unit was unplugged and waiting 30 seconds then putting the battery back into the unit and trying to plug it all back in again. That did not do anything. She also suggested making sure that both parts of the power supply were connected to each other, the unit and the wall. I made sure of this. The transforumer was not even a little warm and it had been plugged in for awhile so I didn't know what was going on. I talked to my son-in-law who has an associates in computer science and he went through every possibility we could think of together before I decided to give up and call tech support. I called their number and they went through all of the steps available in their handbook and then some and nothing would get the computer to come back on.

I tried leaving it over night to see if by the morning with it being plugged in it would have charged enough to run it but the transformer remained cool so I talked to support again they said the cord must be bad and I can send the pc+ cord into them and they will repair it but I did not wish to hassle with that so I thought if I exchanged it for just another Compaq Presario CQ60-419WM it'd just be better but by the time I got back to Wal-Mart they were completely sold out and the cashier I talked to said they wouldn't restock it.

My son-in-law also recently purchased a laptop by Compaq with a dual processor, a webcam and built in mic and other things so it costs a lot more than mine but by the 4th day he had it, his hard drive was clicking and the laptop wouldn't properly turn on. So he has it in repair but we've learned something in this experience: Compaqs aren't worth the time or hassle no matter how cheap.

Its not a steal, but a fair price for a single processor laptop. Certainly the value of single processor laptops is such that they must be sold now very cheaply to get rid of through the most efficient sphincter available. Here licking the edges are some windows cockroaches not sure what flavor of cadaver they will install. Lets download some Lysol and hang a few pine scented air fresheners to cover the reek and stink of whats already on there because in the death of my mind I have no idea what else I could possibly invigor this half ball notebook with.

No, john is right, this is one crippled laptop, you can't downgrade to XP, or upgrade to retail Vista Ultimate, my guess is that PC Decrapifier would choke on it. Return this bad boy before it is too late!

John, maybe you should think about rolling back to XP. That's a great computer for the price, don't give up on it! If you install Windows XP on it you won't believe how quickly it will do everything, and if you want shiny, low maintenance and fast daily use software, you could look into Ubuntu 8.04. That's a very powerful open source operating system that uses much less of your power than Vista, and many people (me included) like the way it looks better.
