Toshiba is done with all its denials regarding the Blu-ray player production and those submissive hints of late have turned fruitful. A local Japanese site has reported that Toshiba will have its BD-18 Blu-ray player released in Japan this year.
Toshiba was not keen on developing Blu-ray players as it believed that HD DVD and flash memory was a better option. Indeed, Toshiba had thought of technology updates for DVD as a wiser alternative.
It is the market share pattern over the year that might have prompted Toshiba to make a change. No real detail about the BD-18 Blu-ray player is available but, it is a certainty that Toshiba is getting it readied quickly.
With the Japanese release already on the cards, it will not be long that we will see a Blu-ray player bearing a Toshiba moniker even on the US market shelves pretty soon. [via: Cybertheater]
