Those classified versions of the motherboards even from major manufactures are a mere way to fool consumers to go for expensive variants without gaining much of an advantage. The just out EVGA X 58 3X SLI claims to revert this trend as it isn’t just a classified version for the customary X58, it does offer better performance.

As per EVGA, the classified motherboard targets the ultra-high end market with its true 3X SLI PCI Express x16 configuration. It is well supported by NVIDIA’s NF200 PCI Express bridge chip, along with an additional PCI Express slot dedicated to PhysX.

The Overclocking promise is kept using support for dual +12V connectors that bring more power to the CPU. Simultaneously, on-the-fly vCore alterations through a control panel, higher-grade capacitors, 10-phase digital PWM, and a heavy-duty passive cooling system assist the Overclocking cause.

The EVGA X58 3X SLI is priced $125 higher than the base X58 at $425. With a pricing this hefty and a limited number of buyers, the classified edition would seriously have to prove its worth. [via Hothardware]
